To achieve its mission, the Foundation manages two endowment funds, to which congregation members, friends and others are encouraged to contribute their legacy, memorial and other gifts:

Over the 37 years from 1987 to 2024, the foundation’s value increased from $175,000 to $2,424,372. This represents a growth of nearly 14 times, allowing for significantly greater service!

Community Impact Fund

Grants are made to support programs and projects that are in keeping with our Mission. Such grants are awarded to credible non-profit organizations locally, nationally, and/or globally.

In 2025, grants totaling $19,000 were awarded as follows:
  • $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Sarasota.
  • $15,000 to Safe Children Coalition for support the creation of a new youth shelter.
  • $5,000 to St. Paul’s Early Childhood Learning Center.
  • $4,000 to SAKLC Refugee Support Program to cover rent, food and health costs resulting from the Federal government’s recent cancellation of such funds.
In 2024-2025, grants totaling $56,500 were awarded as follows:
  • In the wake of the church damage from the hurricanes, the Foundation has given its largest grant ever to the church in the amount of $56,500 for all the offices new furniture and files.

In 2024, grants totaling $58,990 were awarded as follows:

  • $10,000 to Lutheran Bible Translators to fund new translations of African Languages.
  • $15,000 to Safe Children Coalition for support the creation of a new youth shelter.
  • $10,000 to Luther Springs Ministries to fund youth camps supporting migrant children scholarships.
  • $3,240 to SAKLC Refugee Ministries for additional storage of furniture for future legal migrants.
  • $20,750 to SAKLC to support the updating of Fellowship Hall with AV technology.

From 2018 to 2022, the Foundation has granted $370,000:

  • 7% ($26,500) to SAKLC request
  • 16% ($60,000) to ELCA Florida-Bahamas Synod requests
  • 12% ($45,000) to ELCA requests
  • 12% ($43,000) to Lutheran affiliated organizations’ requests
  • 43% ($158,700) to local non-profit requests
  • 10% ($36,800) to national and international non-profit requests

Church Support Fund

This fund is for the benefit of St. Armands Key Lutheran Church with an annual grant distribution to support the ministries of the congregation.

During 2021, the Foundation awarded a grant of $20,000 to SAKLC, and over the past five years has awarded grants totaling $89,000.
